Petition Empty Housing within the UK (Use or Lose it)

There are almost a 1,000,000 empty/unused/derelict homes within the UK. I ask for a law to be passed that if these homes are not used/rented within 12 months (of the law past) they will be (at 50% of the market price) bought by the government and used for affordable homes. Why destroy fields/parks and the Green Belt when homes lie empty..??
