Rejected petition To get First Aid added to the National Curriculum

I am a first year Student Paramedic studying at university and feel that it would be extremely beneficial for this to occur. Having learnt about basic life support I believe that this may increase the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest.

More details

Currently in the U.K our survival to discharge after a cardiac arrest, in all rhythms, is 8.6%, whereas in Norway they have a survival to discharge rate of 25%. This is because approximately 70% of the population in Norway know basic life support. For every minute CPR is not performed in a cardiac arrest the persons chances of survival decrease by 10%.
If first aid skills were added to the National Curriculum this would help reduce pressure on ambulance crews which are in a deficit.
