Petition Grant siblings access rights
The decision about how much contact a sibling can have is controlled by the parents.
There are no legal guidelines and the support available can be costly(see below).
This results in many negative relationships which drives families apart.
More details
After a family break up, parents have multiple options when it comes to contact, as well as legal guidelines in place to protect the best interest of the child.
Siblings have no legal rights to access. They can use mediation but failing that they can apply for a child contact order through the courts. This costs £215 just to apply! They also require permission to do this from a family court, as well as court fees.
