Closed petition Duty free on arrival at UK airports

Closed on

At present we manufacture duty free items in the UK then export them around the world. We then buy them back paying duty to overseas governments and ferry them home. In the process we are party to huge amounts of fuel consumed by the airlines and we deny our government of large amounts of revenue.

2000 million items shipped back and forth each year
£2 000 000 000 lost income to our country
185 000 tonnes of fuel used to transport back and forth

The solution is simple: allow passengers to buy the same duty free / duty paid items when they arrive back to the UK
