Rejected petition Core infrastructure such as travel should seek approval prior to strike action
2016 has seen various industrial strike actions due various industrial disputes. Core infrastructure industries such as travel in the UK are using commuters as pawns in their negotiations. Resolutions to disputes take too long and lead to strike action and the commuters penalised.
More details
2016 saw an increase in strike action with a total of 269,000 days lost due to industrial action since October 2016. This is over a 50% increase to the figures of 2015 which is 169,000 days lost due to industrial action. Core infrastructure industrial action needs to be controlled and validated prior to strike action that will affect thousands of commuters. (figures from Office for National Statistics)
