Rejected petition Stop Arriva Trains Wales competing for the next franchise.

Anybody who has used Arriva Trains Wales understands that there are continual service failures that disrupt people's lives. They don't attempt to fix the problem yet still allow their business to profit massively. All these profits are sent over to the parent company in Germany, Deutsche Bahn.

More details

The rail service is largely subsidised by the numerous taxes and contributions we pay into public sector funds. It is absolutely absurd that think some of the taxes way pay, is then paid to a German company.

When posting an operating profit of £22,768,000, we demand greater reinvestment into the outdated infrastructure and equipment. A publicly funded company that's failing so badly should not be allowed to be profitable.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Your petition is about something that the Welsh Government is responsible for. The next rail franchise will be let by the Welsh Government, meaning that the UK Government and Parliament can't look into it.

The Welsh Assembly has its own Petitions Committee. If you'd like to send your petition to the Welsh Assembly, you can find out more here:
