Rejected petition Free school/college travel for kids up to 18 years of age.
Kids now have to stay in school or further education until they turn 18 so why not extend the free bus fare too? The price for public transport for the youths is extortionate. And 16 is not a realistic age for all kids to have their own transport.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Aged-based transport fares are not set by the UK Government. For buses, local bus companies are free to set their own fares. For trains, the fares are set by train operating companies.
You could start a new petition asking Parliament to change the law, to require all transport operators to offer child fares for anyone under 18 travelling to school or college. Or you could sign the following petition asking for a change in the law on child fares.
