Rejected petition Allow overtaking in other lanes of the motorway

I propose that all motorway lanes can be used to pass other cars.
This should have some restrictions for safety such as only allowing this > 1 mile from slip roads.

Drivers on the motorways in the UK are constantly complaining about other drivers sitting in lanes, especially the outside lane and not allowing faster cars to pass.
This is both dangerous and unessecarilly slows the traffic.
We have all witnessed frustrated drivers attempting to undertake (dangerously as others are not expecting it)

This law is currently adopted successfully by other countries and shown to be safe as all road users are expecting this behaviour. I believe it would lead to more free flowing safer motorways.
