This petition was submitted during the 2015-2017 parliament
Rejected petition MPs pension benefits to reduce in line with the rest of the country.
The government is now refusing to back schemes that they have previously. In some cases they have even made promises of guarantees which they are now turning their back on. The grounds for this is that they say the schemes are unaffordable. If this is true then MPs should accept a reduction also.

Workers at AWE and now in other Nuclear areas are being targeted, I understand that the Royal mail will be next.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pensions. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pensions.
If you would like to contact IPSA about MPs' pensions, here’s how to contact them:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
