Rejected petition Relieve John Bercow of his duties as speaker

On 6th Feburary Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow made an inappropriate intervention calling President of the United States Donald Trump a racist and a sexist and prohibiting him from speaking to Parliament in his upcoming visit.

More details

Such a move violates Bercow's convention on neutrality which he must respect as speaker. Likewise, it poses complications for British Foreign Policy. Therefore, this public petition calls for Parliament to issue a call of no confidence in Bercow and for him to be relieved of his duties immediately.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There is no mechanism for the removal of a Speaker during a Parliament. Other than at a general election, the Speaker can only stop being Speaker through resignation or death.
