President Trump wants to strengthen US ties with Vladimir Putin. This would weaken NATO and destroy the European Union leaving individual countries open to domination by a Russian-American axis. The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Gutererres, says a united Europe is essential to preventing conflict.

Tthe British government wants to trigger Article 50 in March and its Brexit White Paper is silent about these new threats to our national security.
There is something we can do now to protect ourselves from the ambitions of Trump and Putin: suspend the notification of Article 50 until the national security crisis has passed and stand together with our European friends to support peace and security and shared democratic values. Once the Trump threat has passed we can trigger Article 50.
