Petition Review Police policies instantly rejecting candidates with visible tattoos
Current policies for recruitment within the force is to completely reject candidates, regardless the level of application, if the person has visible tattoos irrespective of their nature. They are looking to diversify by employing new recruits from different cultures but are contradicting that message
More details
Its worrying that people are being judged on appearance and not ability, if the tattoos are non offensive. Statistics show that in 2015 approximately one in 5 uk people have tattoos, this figure set to rise dramatically by 2025. Peoples attitudes to tattoos are changing and if the Home Office don't look at altering the current policies they are not only restricting good quality candidates but could find that police may be excluding themselves from certain communities within their jurisdiction.
