Rejected petition Keep The Young Mums Unit Open

I was a young mother at 14 who found out i was pregnant at 34 weeks. i was transferred to the young mums unit where i was welcomed with open arms, given all the support i needed and came out on top with qualifications and an amazing career path for both me and my daughter.

The Young mums unit in Edinburgh is facing closure.This cannot happen.Young pregnancy is so common now that young parents need this service where they can continue their education and make a better life for themselves and their children.This service has been around for years, it provides education as well as support with parenting. It gives a base for mothers to socialise and to open up about their life. It also provides a teacher that is there always there, The creche is there providing childcare for children up to the age of 5, breastfeeding is enabled to. It has helped enormous amounts of young parents get to amazing places and the service has also helped girls deal with great difficulties while being pregnant and having their babies.
