Petition Increase testing for HIV by commissioning testing through pharmacies
More details
Currently in the UK most HIV testing is carried out through genitourinary medicine clinics, general practitioners, antenatal, drug clinics as well as some smaller various facilities.
It is estimated in 2009 there were 22,000 undiagnosed people with HIV which may increase transmission.
On the Isle of Wight pharmacies offer a simple blood spotting HIV test. Pharmacies are ideal placed throughout the community to increase HIV testing. In England services offered through pharmacies are commissioned locally. We want to government to encourage local commissioners to increase HIV testing through pharmacies.
