Rejected petition Private healthcare for MPs declared a conflict of interest

Adjust the ministerial code to include private healthcare as a conflict of interest for MPs. Any person feeling strongly that the NHS is inadequate and requiring private healthcare may do so outside of the body which controls the NHS

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Not all MPs are Ministers, so not all of them are bound by the Ministerial Code.

All MPs have to follow the House of Commons Code of Conduct. You could start a new petition asking for the Code of Conduct to be changed, to introduce a new rule that MPs should not use private health services.

You can read the Code of Conduct here:

https://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmcode.htm

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
