Rejected petition Ban all religious slaughter, and the import and sale of such meat

While most people enjoy eating meat, the only concern in producing it, beyond hygiene procedures, must be the welfare of the animals involved and the need to avoid causing them pain, fear, and discomfort. There must be no consideration given to any religious or cultural practices of the consumer.

More details

Gandhi wrote "The greatness of a nation, and it's moral progress, may be judged by the way it's animals are treated." In pandering to the - essentially imaginary - requirements of religious communities, over the real, provable, and civilised necessity to avoid pain and fear for the animals, our society's 'moral progress' has declined.
The RSPCA and other welfare groups are clear that religious slaughter is cruel https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/farm/slaughter/religiousslaughter
