Petition Adjust the new tougher law for using your phone or device in a car

The recent changes to the law on using phones or devices by the driver of a car, mean that when completely parked in a car park or paying using your device at a drive-thru, it has been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police that this is illegal if your engine is running.

More details

The new tougher stance on the law is generally a good thing and should be even tougher for those that text or hold their device to call whilst driving.

However it has been extended to include areas, as already mentioned, that border on the absurd.

Imagine a cold frosty morning, you scrape the windows and start the car. Whilst waiting for the windows to clear inside you use your phone, still parked on your drive or the outside your house. I now believe this to be illegal.

A step too far?
