Petition Make NHS Direct Freephone 0800 or Local Rate 0300 Not Lo-Call Rate 0845

I had to make a call to NHS direct on the 0845 number as my friend was having an allergic reaction and I didn't know what to do. For a few minutes on the phone to be told I should call 999 - this cost me around £10.

Why are we paying for the service in this way? It should not be a service that only people with lots of disposable income can use and should be 0800 Freephone or at least 0300 local rate to allow more people to use the service.
