Petition Bring the National Insurance system in-line with that of Income Tax
The weekly amount of pay after which all employees have to start paying National Insurance contributions has not been increased in line with the 'headline-grabbing' increases to the Personal Allowance for Income tax and represents a major penalty to business, especially those who employ themselves.
More details
The 'Primary Earnings Threshold' (weekly earnings) for commencement of National Insurance contributions has increased by an amount of just £16 since 2011/12; an increase of just over 10%. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/516787/Table-a4.pdf
The Personal Allowance for Income Tax from over the same time to 2017/18, by contrast, represents an increase of over 50%.
