Petition Open an enquiry into the operation of the Recruitment Industry with a view to legislation.

More details

With 2.5 million people out of work an enquiry should be held into the conduct of the Recruitment Industry to ensure that it is not part of the problem.

In particular, it should:

(1) ensure that disguised age discrimination is not practiced, notwithstanding The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006.

(2) examine whether the practice of ‘triage’ - whereby those who have been out of work the longest are discriminated against - should be outlawed.

(3) consider *obliging* recruiters to forward candidate’s applications (submitted CV’s letters etc.) to their clients where so desired by candidates. Such a measure would bring the Recruitment Industry into line with that of Estate Agents in terms of an obligation to forward expressions of interest to clients.

Recruitment Industry definition:
Organisations concerned with attracting, screening, and selecting qualified people for a job.
