Rejected petition In schools you shouldn't be forced to attend chapel if you are not religious
Being non-religious, we are fed up with being forced by our school to attend church services weekly.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from the daily act of collective worship if they wish.
Sixth-formers can decide for themselves whether or not to attend, without giving a reason for doing so.
Therefore it is unclear what you want the Government to do on this matter. You could submit a petition calling for the law to be changed so that schools no longer have a duty to arrange daily acts of collective worship.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
