Closed Create an optional council tax welfare supplement to support people in need.

Councils should be able to open up a welfare fund for local people to add into if they can afford to or want to. This fund can then only be used to support the elderly, disabled or other groups in need of help locally. This could be an optional extra on a yearly council tax bill.

Happiness studies show that the happiest countries and societies are those where all in society are supported adequately. The Scandinavian and Dutch models are fantastic examples. Whilst it may mean greater taxes, it also creates much happier societies.
