Expungement is a legal process through which an arrest or conviction may be erased from a person's criminal record. The benefits if this are giving an individual more job and career prospects and the ability to start a fresh. Most criminal offences are from an adults younger years when learning and mistakes are made without fully understanding the consequences. Depending on the severity of the offence and how long ago the last offence was commited these mistakes should not be punishable for the rest of an individuals life.
