Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2015-2017 parliament

Rejected petition UN decisions should be based on majority voting of UN Security Council members

Decisions by the UN Security Council should be allowed if the majority of UN Security Council members at the time agree, provided at least 3 out of 5 of the UN permanent Security Council members (i.e. UK, USA, Russia, China, France) also agree, hence stopping the impasse of veto.

More details

UN Security Council condemnation of atrocities, inhumane action, etc by a state behaviour is often thwart by veto of one (or more) of the 5 UN permanent Security Council members. UN is currently a hapless and ineffective talking shop because there are too many UN members with differing agendas.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This is a matter for the UN, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
