Rejected petition Psychiatrists not to transfer to the UK with overseas training but no English.
In my area there are a great many Foreign Psychiatrists who are practising on the strength of having gained English through a "Catch-Up" Qualification. However, the diagnostic techniques of Psychiatry rely on an intimate knowledge of the Cultural uses of language, which these courses do not provide.

Too much suffering around the Misdiagnosis issue:misread humour, cynical snap assessments,& a Coldhearted Stony Silent treatment in the face of all my complaints.Psychiatry is catching up to a better informed public,and is bad enough without miscommunications on the basis of Language Difference and Cultural Illiteracy.The Diagnostic Techniques are reliant on Psycholinguistics,not rigorous fact checking.People are being Misdiagnosed and driven to Suicide just because they had an interesting life.
