Petition Do not decriminalise the possession, production, importation or distribution of controlled substances

More details

Calls for the decriminalisation of the possession, distribution, importation and production of controlled substances currently prohibited under the Misuse of Drugs Act fail to take into account the societal damage caused by the use of controlled substances; individuals using these substances often commit crimes in order to fund their habits and the legalisation of such substances would do nothing to solve this problem: they would still need to acquire the money to purchase them somehow.

Furthermore, these controlled substances have detrimental affects upon the health and wellbeing of users and have in numerous instances resulted in death.

Whilst under the influence of these drugs, users have the potential to cause harm to persons and damage to property.

This petition requests that the government does not relent to the requests of those who wish to engage in such conduct.
