Rejected petition Regulate pay for vice chancellors at universities

Many of Britain's top university vice chancellors earn a staggering annual salary, whilst their staff and students struggle with wages and debt respectively.
The highest paid of these was £468,000, whilst the students still pay £9,00 a year.

More details

The university of Baths vice chancellors has recently resigned after a row over her pay. She ended her long career with a pay packet of £468,000, whilst living for free in a £1.6M house.
The average student will be in £40,000 debt with staff earning only,on average, £35,000. I'm calling on the government to regulate the difference in pay between staff and vice chancellors, and ultimately review the necessity of a £9,000 tuition fee.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

At the moment, pay for vice-chancellors is the responsibility of universities, not the Government or Parliament. We're not sure exactly what you mean by "regulate the difference in pay between staff and vice chancellors, and ultimately review the necessity of a £9,000 tuition fee".

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
