Rejected petition Allow Dyslexic/Special Needs pupils technology i.e speech 2 text for exams
Education insists on the written word, in the classroom and official examinations. This in a world where writing is becoming extinct & replaced with technology & computing. Dyslexic and Special needs children would benefit immensely from the right technology in exams like speech to text dictation.

Much research has been completed by several universities and published in Sage Journals, http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/0022219416688170, which shows speech to text technology does improve the outcomes for those with reading disabilities, like Dyslexia.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Specific reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities are the responsibility of exam boards.
The Equality Act 2010 requires exam boards to make reasonable adjustments to assessments for disabled students. The Government requires exam boards to publish their arrangements for making reasonable adjustments, including how a student qualifies for a reasonable adjustment and what reasonable adjustments will be made.
