This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

At the moment, the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for deciding on MPs' pay and pensions. This is the responsibility of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You could start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to take this responsibility away from IPSA and to set up a different system. You'll need to explain clearly exactly what you mean by "linked to the public sector".

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
