Toby Young has consistently demonstrated over a number of years that he has an attitude that is entirely unsuited to leading in the higher education sector due to his inappropriate tweets about women which are sexist, misogynistic and abusive.

Individuals appointed to public posts should be able to demonstrate that they able to uphold the public trust in their appointment as well as demonstrate high standards of personal and professional conduct. This means they must be able show that they are tolerant and respect other peoples' rights, expressing their beliefs in a way that does not exploit or demean others. Toby Young has consistently failed to do this and should never have been appointed to this post.
