Rejected petition Resentence the couple who abused and didn't protect their baby

A man and woman have been charged with harming and failing to protect their one week old baby. However their sentences do not reflect the child's life long injuries and 3 months worth of suffering. Injuries included broken ribs a fractured skull and broken arm
He was charged with 4 years and her 2

More details

They both lied from the start to cover up the true reason for her injuries. They delayed seeking treatment causing her months of suffering. The injuries were intentional against a totally defenceless baby and were sustained over a period of time, not just a one off incidence. They have shown no remorse and actually went out partying to celebrate the delay of the case. The sentence is wholly inadequate given the child's suffering, which will no doubt be life-long. This sentence is shameful and certainly no deterrent to anyone considering similar abuse.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This isn't something that the UK Government or Parliament could do. Sentences are the responsibility of the courts, not the UK Government or Parliament.

Anyone can ask the Attorney General to review a sentence they think is too low, and only one person needs to ask for a sentence to be reviewed. You can find out how to do that here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
