Benefits negotiated by Trade unions at the workplace are enjoyed by union members & non-members alike.
e.g. Workplace offers 1% pay rise to workforce but through negotiations with trade union, an increased offer of 2.5% is agreed. Members & non-members alike are given a 2.5% pay rise as a result.

Union members already make financial contribution to support their union to act on their behalf however non-members receive the benefit of this rise without having made any financial contribution to the costs of the union achieving this mutually beneficially outcome.
Make non-union members pay monthly contribution, not exceeding subs paid by union members or they will receive only the 1% payrise.
