Petition More funding for a cure for patients suffering with IBD

The two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Both are chronic diseases that cause inflammation of the digestive system. As well as these intestinal problems, the disease may be associated with abnormalities of the joints, eyes, liver and skin.

Crohn’s disease is the inflammation of the digestive system which leads to diarrhoea, abdominal pain, tiredness and weight loss. Ulcerative colitis is a lifelong disease that is associated with significant morbidity. With Ulcerative Colitis being the most common of the two most patients are diagnosed under the age of 25. Having the start of our lives filled with doctors appointments, hospital apppointments, to be used on clinical trials for drugs that can only surpress and not cure our illness.
