Closed petition Stop extradition to the UAE
Closed on
No Brit has been extradited from the UK to the UAE since 2010, but growing extradition requests from the UAE incur millions of pounds in costs for the UK taxpayer. The UK must suspend or withdraw from the extradition treaty with the UAE until the UAE can uphold human rights.
The UK Government is aware of – and holds - extensive and reliable evidence of human rights violations in the UAE. This includes evidence from British lawyer David Haigh, who was imprisoned without charge in Dubai for over 15 months, with no police investigation or formal interviews about the allegations against him. He was tortured and sexually abused. With others unjustly accused by the UAE, he continues to fight against extradition. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-42027115
