Petition Do not impose same-sex marriage on religious minorities
We call on Parliament, now and in the future, to continue to uphold the fundamental human right of religious minorities (Christians, Muslims, Jews and others) not to have same-sex marriage imposed on us, as guaranteed by the so-called ‘quadruple lock’ in the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013.
More details
The right of religious minorities not to have same-sex marriage imposed on them was guaranteed by the so-called ‘quadruple lock’ which was included in the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 when same-sex marriage was legalized in the UK.
We call on Parliament to continue to uphold and respect this fundamental human right.
We remind Parliament that one of its key functions in a democratic society is to protect minorities from the ‘tyranny of the majority.’
