There have been nationwide burglaries targeting Asian families perceived due to Asian families having Gold in their houses.
The burglaries can be life threatening.
Police have difficulty in finding the stolen items and as gold can be cashed in easily after melting.

Asian families are seen to be targeted for gold in their homes.
New controls be put in place to oblige the buyers of gold for cash to establish the identity of the seller, information of the source of the object, a requirement to retain the item at the outlet and to record the transaction, as well as provide police with access to items and records.
Police should be given adequate powers of access, questioning,
arrest .

There are similar laws in Australia and Ireland .
