Rejected petition Pardon those executed as witches in the Lanchasire Witch Trials of 1612

In 1612, 10 men and women were hanged after being found guilty of witchcraft in the Pendle Witch trials in Lancashire, England. Despite the UK government abolishing the superstitious laws that allowed this, a pardon has never been granted for the victims of this injustice.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

A pardon of this kind would be granted by the Monarch.

You could start a new petition asking the Government to request that a pardon be granted by the Monarch in this case.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
