Petition Progressive measures to tackle dangerous driving
More details
This petition requests progressive measures, to tackle dangerous driving and ensure corrective action is taken by offenders.
1) Financial Penalties should be linked to penalty points in a progressive manner, meaning that for every additional point a driver incurs on their licence relative to existing points, the fine should increase exponentially.
2) The second measure relates to driver education
a) Driver awareness courses should be mandatory and in addition to penalty points, to avoid incentivising the educational route to avoid penalty points.
b) In conjunction with the Driver Awareness course, drivers should sit a more advanced version of the theory exam, to ensure that they are able to demonstrate their ability to comprehend the courses teachings.
c) Repeat offenders should be re-educated through a practical course and be required to demonstrate their comprehension of the training, through completing a more advanced version of the exiting practical driving test.
