Rejected petition Cap all Council Leaders' and Executives' pay to the same as MPs with no bonuses
Council leaders and executives are increasingly being paid more than the Prime Minister, a ridiculous situation that running a council pays more than running a country. It is council tax payers who are funding these salaries and the pensions that follow.

Capping their pay to the level of MPs and blocking all bonuses will help to reduce this burden on council tax payers.

Council leaders, like councillors, receive allowances that are set by the local authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.
In any case, the highest paid council leaders receive a total of around £60k which is not more than the Prime Minister.
Chief executive pay is also set by the local authority.
You could start a new petition asking the Government and Parliament to remove pay setting powers for Council Leaders and Executives from local authorities, if that's what you'd like to happen.
