Rejected petition Lobby the EU to ban 2 bee killing pesticides
The EU voted to ban nicotinoids as it harms bees. This was supported by the UK Government.
2 pesticides - Rotenone & Azadirachtin, are dangerous to bees but still permitted for use in the EU. These 2 pesticides are now being substituted for banned neonics.
It's time they were banned.
More details
Rotenone is highly toxic to bees. It is toxic to humans, can induce Parkinson’s disease & is highly toxic to fish.
Azadirachtin is lethal to bumblebees at concentrations 50x lower than those recommeded to farmers. It is banned in the UK, but both it & Rotenone are permitted in the EU, and so could enter our food chain.
The UK Government must take the lead in lobbying the EU to ban these dangerous pesticides.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Rotenone doesn't appear to be authorised for use in any EU Member State. We're therefore not exactly sure what action you'd like the UK Government and Parliament to take.
You can view the entry for Rotenone in the EU Commission’s pesticide database here:
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
