Rejected petition Free vote in E-petition debates
More details
The government should be obliged to ensure that: Any E-petition which meets the criteria for a debate in the house should be followed by a free vote.
Any such debate is, in effect, at the direct request of the public. Following such a debate MPs should be free to vote according to their conscience and what they believe to be the wishes of their constituents.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Whipping is a matter for political parties not HM Government.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
