Rejected petition MAKE FOREIGN AID CONDITIONAL

Foreign Aid should be conditional.
It is not something which should be dispensed without a clear policy.
Aid should, wherever possible, take the form of items which let poor people help themselves, like building materials,tools, seeds, livestock etc, not money which could be used to buy arms.
No country which has a nuclear arms and/or a space programme should qualify.
Nor should countries which promote homophobia or misogyny or any other practice which we in this country would not tolerate.
Countries where there are high levels of government corruption should be exempt from anything but direct emergency food aid administered only by British Government officials.
Countries which are openly hostile to our way of life and present a security threat to our nation must not receive anything except emergency disaster aid.

We should always be ready to give aid but to do it wisely not indiscriminately.
