Rejected petition Transpennine Express to reduce prices
Transpennine Express has not been providing a reliable train service with multiple train cancellations and delays every day. They do not have contingency plans, do not offer alternative services and do not provide acceptable compensation (especially to season ticket holders)
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The price of train tickets is the responsibility of train operating companies.
While the UK Government and Parliament do not directly set the price of train tickets, the Government can set the rate by which train operating companies can raise some ticket prices. You could start a new petition calling on the Government to change this rate, or a petition asking for other changes to the way in which train fares are set, if that's what you want to happen.
You could also start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to change the rules to make rail franchises refund train fares if the journey is delayed for more than a certain amount of time, if that's what you'd like to happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
