Rejected petition Affordable 1st Time Buyers should be affordable. Set a max value of £150,000

As a young person trying to get on the housing ladder is one of the hardest things to do. Without being lucky it very hard to get the deposit for a even the cheapest "Perfect for first time buyers" home. I propose a cap on the amount a developer can charge for "Affordable" housing to £150,000.

More details

Having looked in the area where I live the cheapest affordable first time buyer house is around £280,000 which would require for a descent mortgage rate a deposit of £32,000 or a min of £28,000 which on top of all other bills required to live would take about 5years to save for, In which time the cost would of gone up meaning we will never get on the housing ladder.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure if you want the UK Government to subsidise the cost of a home for first time buyers for any amount over £150,000, or if you want a cap of £150,000 on all Government affordable housing schemes available to first time buyers, such as buy to rent or shared ownership.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
