Closed petition Re-instate the Emergency Towing Vessels disbanded in September 2011
Closed on
4 Emergency Towing Vessels were set up around the UK as a result of Lord Donaldon's 1994 enquiry 'Safer Ship's, Cleaner Seas'.
Over 20 years, this has been honed into a useful service assisting vessels and their crews, and a good insurance against the damage caused by wrecked vessels on our shoreline.
It was withdrawn in September 2011 despite opposition from the Government Transport Select Committee.
As a maritime island nation, it is surely the responsibility of Her Majesty’s Government to protect our shores.
Please re-instate this service.
