Rejected petition Take back the acquisition that animals can not feel pain or emotion as humans do
Scientific research has provided numerous examples that animals can feel pain. Perhaps the most infamous example is that of Harlow, who experimented on rhesus monkeys for over two decades. Other experiments have shown dogs, horses, and even goats have complex emotions, and the ability to feel pain
More details
Harlow (1932 onwards) showed that when scared, young rhesus monkeys will choose a terrycloth mother over a mother who provides food, thereby showing that they have emotional needs. Other valuable research includes Morton and Griffiths (1985), Regan (1987), and Singer (1973)
