Rejected petition One hour in the week turn the lights off to view the observable universe.
Rejected on
One hour in the week where we all turn the lights (even if it’s just around a certain mile radius) off to help reduce light pollution so we can view the observable galaxy.
Light pollution is the excessive or misdirected outdoor lighting that is threatening to destroy virtually all casual stargazing. Throughout much of the UK for instance, millions upon millions of precious watts are wasted because poorly designed streetlamps send a portion of their light into the sky.Over the past two decades, the increase in this ubiquitous, overly bright and garish lighting has so polluted the night we no longer see he stars with a naked eye.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Your petition seems to be calling on members of the public and businesses to take action, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you would like the UK Government or Parliament to act, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
