Closed Consider stronger sentences for burglary offenders

Currently, the crime levels of burglaries in local areas have increased dramatically.

This may range from physical attacks on residents to completely ransacking a residents house.

Those most likely to reoffend were adults serving prison sentences of less than 12 months.

“Statistics published by the Minstry of Justice (MoJ) reveal that more than 250,000 offences were committed by people with more than 25 previous convictions.

Those most likely to reoffend were adults serving prison sentences of less than 12 months.

25 per cent of reoffending was due to theft, with more than 10K burglars going on to commit another 2K domestic burglaries within a year.

More than 6K serious violent offenders went on to commit more than 650 violent offences.
