Closed Ban The Sale of Live Plucked Down Products In The United Kingdom.

China supplies 80% of the worlds down. Geese are forcefully restrained and feathers ripped out. This process is repeated every 6-7 weeks, causing birds considerable pain and distress. Many are left with gaping wounds, some even die.

Workers often sew the birds’ skin back together without anaesthetic.
Down is still widely used in the UK Fashion and Bedding Industries with most supplied by China. Make it compulsory law that retailers only supply down that meets the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) http://responsibledown.org/ and the DOWNPASS standard 2017 https://www.downpass.com/en/downpass/standard.html and ban the sale of all live-plucked down in the United Kingdom.
