Rejected petition Change the legal tender law/policy to include Northern Irish and Scottish notes.
Northern Irish and Scottish notes are considered acceptable forms of payment by the BOE and the words pound sterling are printed on them. They are British Currency yet still not legal tender and are rejected by many retailers in England. Banks in England accept them and the law should recognise this

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand that you are concerned by retailers rejecting Scottish and Northern Irish bank notes. However, making them "legal tender" would not change this.
You can find out more about "legal tender" and what it means for Scottish and Northern Irish bank notes here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
